Do You Provide Therapy in Schools?

Yes. Hope and Light Clinical Counseling provides school-based mental health services to help make therapy more accessible to students during the school day. Availability depends on the participating school and individual eligibility.

What Types of Therapy Do You Use?

Treatment may incorporate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and other trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions. The approach is tailored to the individual rather than using the same method for every client.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach commonly used to address trauma and distressing life experiences. It can help clients process memories and experiences that continue to cause emotional distress.

Do You Work With First Responders?

Yes. Hope and Light Clinical Counseling works with first responders and understands that the demands of these professions can create unique stressors related to trauma exposure, relationships, work-life balance, anxiety, and emotional well-being.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Hope and Light Clinical Counseling accepts select insurance plans. Because coverage varies by plan, clients are encouraged to verify their behavioral health benefits before beginning services. We can also discuss accepted insurance plans and payment options when you contact the practice.

How Do I know If My Insurance Covers Therapy?

You can contact the behavioral health or member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask about outpatient mental health benefits, copays or coinsurance, deductibles, and whether your provider is considered in-network.

How Long Are Therapy Sessions?

Most individual therapy sessions are approximately 45–60 minutes. Session length may vary depending on the service being provided, clinical need, and insurance coverage.

How Often Will I Attend Therapy?

Many clients begin with weekly or biweekly sessions. Frequency is determined collaboratively based on your needs, treatment goals, progress, and availability.

What Should I expect During My First Appointment?

The first appointment is an opportunity to discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant history, strengths, and what you would like to accomplish. Together, we will begin developing goals and determining what treatment approach may be most helpful.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is taken seriously, and information discussed in therapy is generally confidential. There are certain legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which will be reviewed with you during the intake process.

Can Parents Be Involved in Their Child's Therapy?

Yes. Parent or caregiver involvement may be an important part of treatment, particularly with younger clients. The level of involvement depends on the child’s age, clinical needs, treatment goals, and applicable confidentiality requirements.

How Do I Schedule an Appointment?

Contact Hope and Light Clinical Counseling to inquire about availability. We can discuss your needs, insurance information, preferred appointment format, and next steps for getting started.

What If I'm Experiencing a Mental Health Emergency?
